A classic of its kind! The obvious steep, green chimney at the bottom of Jack's Rake is gained by a short scramble. Thrutch to the top in two or three more pitches.

Ticklists: Kendal Wall's Best 100 climbs in Britain, Lakeland's Best Multi-pitch Routes up to HVS, Mountaineering Routes in the Lake District.

Not the one to do in the pouring rain. Like climbing through a sewer.

Only a classic if you like that sort of thing. Which I don't. Add a couple of grades if you're lacking the chimney love. More of a battle than a climb for me, with swearing. Lots and lots of swearing.

Scrambled up the final pitch as an alternative to the last pitch of rake end wall, well worth it!

Interesting route. Chimneys and thrutching. Leading in trainers probably a mistake. Ended up leading all the pitches.

Started to rain on the very last pitch, wouldn't have liked to do the earlier pitches in the wet, quite green but really good when dry, don't do it if you don't like 'traditional' climbs, at every point where there is a 'difficult' move it pays too look around as chances are there will be an easy way around it.

Wouldn't advise carrying a rucksack either. My partner turned the air blue. Great fun.
