First winter climb, really different to trad. Bit of a snow plod but a little technical higher up. Managed to hook the shaft of my axe round a ice pillar to hoist myself past the hard part as the top part of the route was a little out of condition. Practiced self arrests and bucket seats down in the approach.

Good ice in middle section but poor snow and a large cornice made the exit uncomfortable

Still holding on. Climbed directly up, through a hole in cornice.

Done on the Lairig Club's winter skills course with Martin Moran. He led the route and brought the rest of us up on one rope. An interesting route without appropriate boots or crampons as it transpired! But nethertheless a good introduction to winter climbing.

Not nearly enough ice for the main event today. Pleasant conditions in the gully tho.
