Brilliant climb up the face of Lliwedd. Climbed in 9 pitches, I led 2, 4, 6, 7 and 9. First pitch pretty unprotected.

Chris led p1, but as I moaned about climbing with the weight of the pack, I led the rest and Chris seconded with the pack. Ran together pitches 2+3, 4+5, 6 and continued until I ran out of rope on 7, then moved alpine style through the last 75m scramble to the summit! Topped out to a walker exlaiming "you've got to be kidding me!" Nothing overly memorable about the route, it was OK!

Led P1, 3, 5, 7. Scrambbled onto the top. Loose rock in places. Dirty rock in places. Luckily it was dry all day.

Wales delivered a sunny walk in followed by a brief shower as we arrived at the base of Lliwedd. The rock was still dry so we decided to start the route. P1 was sunny, by P2 we were surrounded in mist, P3 turned windy then during P4 the rain came down. We stopped on the grassy ledge above P4 shivering, hoping the rain would stop and the wind relent. Eventually the rain passed over so we pressed on scrambling up the rock which dried rapidly in the strong wind. P6 was briefly interupted when a grazing sheep on the western buttress caused a large rockfall. The scramble up P7 and P8 was uneventful save for a series of walkers leaning over the edge to take photos of us. Led P1, P3, P5 and P7.

Chris led first, I let second then alt. from there. Bit loose and dirty. I fell off pitch three on second cos Chris had covered it in mud excavating a crack looking for wire placement. Bit disappointing.

Pitch 1 and 2 then rain forced an abseil retreat. Pitch 1 was the biggest sandbag at severe I can remember, not sure if upgrading to HS represents the lack of gear, more than likely damp, tricky moves accurately either. It stands out in my mind for the poor weather forecast and scary first pitch. We watched a couple of guys marooned on Horned Crag when we got down, caught by the downpour.
