βeta: Reading Seb's comments regarding this route originally finishing at a lower belay with a long sling, I thought I'd set the record straight. This route has always finished at the top of the crag. However, when placing the lower of its two(!) protection bolts, I placed it so that it was too high to be clipped from the start of the traverse of Big Store, which was Gary's trad route - remember this was 1989 when trad routes still had a place on the Cornice. To turn Egyptian Bizarre into a sport route, it was necessary to place a long sling on this bolt when lowering down from a neighbouring route. A bit bizarre I know...... Nice to know it's bolted all the way now. | βeta? | |
