Rockfax Description
This pleasant route tackles the sloping gangway in the middle of Clogwyn d'ur Arddu between two of the most famous rock climbing faces in North Wales. It is mainly used as the climbers' descent and is generally straightforward although a little loose near the top.
1) From the end of the path below the East Buttress, scramble up and round a few exposed steps to reach the true diagonal-rising terrace. A walk up and left leads to an impasse.
2) It is here on the first ascent that Reverend Williams used his belt to help haul his companion up this step - you should be able to do it without the belt. Above, head up a rough slab eventually to gain the upper gully before you reach the ridge line and the Snowdon Ranger Path. Take great care with loose rock on this whole section.
3) Follow the Snowdon Ranger Path up and right to The Llanberis Path and then the summit.
Descent - Head down The Llanberis Path. If you approached from the Pass then descend The Llanberis Path to about 200m past the finger stone marking the top of The PYG Track to an old ruined building (the Stables). From here, contour around and rightwards to pick up the top of Gryn Las Ridge. Descend this, or the walking descent into Cwm Glas, and back to Llanberis Pass. © Rockfax
