This is not the best route as it is a little scrappy, but it does offer a scrambling descent into Llanberis Pass and it is fairly easy to reach from the summit of Garnedd Ugain. Using this route as a descent can also allow you to traverse around Cwm Uchaf and Cwm Glas via Crib Goch and Crib y Ddysgl and start and finish in the Llanberis Pass.Start from the first Pass lay-bys. Walk up the road to a gated entrance and small galvanised bridge. Head over the bridge and follow the 4x4 track over another bridge. Almost immediately on the left, a small path leads up the hillside on the right side of a small stream that comes down from Cwm Glas Mawr. The path crosses a small, partially collapsed drystone wall. Continue along the path for 300m then leave the path and head up right to gain the start of a grassy ridge.1) The path becomes more distinct on the ridge and can be followed to the start of a steep pyramid of loose rock. Do not tackle this head on, but find a path that scrambles around to its right.2) A gully up the middle of another step leads to a path that meanders up avoiding any difficulty to the top of the main ridge.3) A more easy-angled ridge now heads up and around Cwm Glas towards Garnedd Ugain.Descent or continuation - Either reverse the traverse of Crib Goch and Crib y Ddysgl or carry on to Snowdon and choose a descent route from there. The easiest descent if you are not looking to bag a peak is found 200m along the grassy spur from the top of the main ridge, where you can pick your way down into Cwm Glas and then reverse the approach to The Parson's Nose which includes a grade 1 section. © Rockfax
