High Tor is managed by Derbyshire Dales District Council (DDDC) and there is a regular wardening service in operation. There are no major access problems at High Tor, but climbers should take careful note of the following agreed guidelines:
Reason: Nesting Birds
High Tor is a SSSI of extremely high botanical value with some very rare grasses and plants located around the crag. Climbers are requested to be especially careful not to trample grass at the base of the crag and to stick to the established paths so as not to damage plants on the wooded approaches.
Rockfax Description
An impressive line but with the occasional chipped hold. Start 4m right of Skylight on a pile of blocks. Pull through the roof and move up to a hidden pocket to the left. Step right and gain the flake and follow this, and the wall above, to a break and a lower-off. © Rockfax

βeta: Climb this at your peril. Ridiculously lanky, to the point where I couldn’t do the start move… Loose rock everywhere and sketchy bolting. Terrible. | βeta?

βeta: Cleaned 13/07/04. Should have long reach symbols for the first 3 moves, which along with the fourth constitute the crux. WARNING. Do not attempt to lower off the pegs or bolt at the girdle break. There is no lower-off and the gear is poor. One bolt pulled out under the body weight of the second!. Traverse right, with care, along the girdle (marked by an old bolt and pegs) to finish up a crack. This is the original finish despite what it says above! | βeta?
