βeta: Although the rest of the zawn is deep (on the red crane side with sugar daddy), there is a wide limestone ledge covered in seaweed under this route (as for a good few meters out). it is shallow unless at high tide. i bailed off half way up, thinking it was ok if jumped out into the zawn, feet/legs missed the edge of the reef, and coxic just caught it, could have been a lot worse but just bruised. As the reef is dark coloured, i think it looked deeper than it was (was only about 1.2m deep) jumping onto the reef would be ok at higher tide with bent legs. Water level was approx 0.8/m depth as per Portland Tide Gauge estimated at this time, so if another 0.5m of water (neap highish), ok to drop beneath the route, otherwise be careful. | βeta? | |
