Rockfax Description
Sustained and interesting climbing with a fine variation top pitch that is worth seeking out (although a grade harder than the original line). Start at the wall right of Rake End Chimney.
1) 4b, 18m. Climb the wall left of a rib. Pass a flake and go up and rightwards to a block and belay under a leaning corner-crack.
2) 4c, 27m. Starting at the block, climb the crack to a ledge and from its left end, move onto a slab. Climb the slab to a slim corner and follow this until a move left onto the rib can be made. Follow the rib to a grassy bay and belay.
3) 4b, 35m. Climb the arete right of the deep chimney. Scrambling leads to a belay on a large grassy terrace.
The Rib Pitch, HVS 5a - A fine alternative finish to pitch 3. Climb out across the left wall of the chimney to the rounded arete and take a shallow groove to easier ground © Rockfax
