(East Ridge) This lengthy expedition reaches the summit from the notch between Rulten's two summits. Gain the notch by first climbing the Østryggen of Austre Rulten, then make two abseils into the col and follow the exposed upper east ridge which involves "a lot of up and down climbing along a very long and solid ridge." On the first ascent the descent was made by reascending the fixed abseil ropes back to the summit of Austre Rulten, and reversing the entire route! Descending Sydrenna would be an easier and more logical way of doing it. © Rockfax

FA. Magnar Pettersen, Wilhelm H?yer, Emil Olsen 7.1955. This was the first ever traverse of both of the summits. Magnar fondly remembers when his climbing partners put a large rock in his rucksack before they started the descent as payment for his doing a 15/Jul/1955.
