The landowners have requested no more bolting or group use in the West Quarry.
User attention
The landowner has temporarily closed off access to the western part of the crag while they investigate reports of geological instability. They have stated that this closure is currently temporary and will be updating the BMC once the investigation has taken place. In the meantime please do not access or climb here. The coastgaurd has indicated that given the potentialy dangerous condition of the crag they would not send in rescuers should an emergency arise whilst thie closure is in place. from 18/04/2023

βeta: The first bolt has a piece of finger tape with a short tail wrapped on it around the bottom of the staple. It's not wrapped up in a way that prevents a quickdrawer being placed (like when someone completely wraps the first bolt in insulation tape to indicate it is a closed project or unsafe route). Is this possibly to mark an issue with the bolt or the route? The bolts (inc. lower off) and the rock seemed OK to me but im no expert. Is anyone aware of any issues with this route? Maybe an experienced local could take a quick look next time they are visiting. | βeta? | |
