Director of Top Gun, Tony Scott, Commits Suicide

Tony Scott, a British climber and famed film director, has comitted suicide by jumping from the Vincent Thomas Bridge, Los Angeles.

Tony Scott was a climber, and in her recent blog, Alison Osius from Rock and Ice Magazine recounts some conversations with Scott in which he details soloing Cenotaph Corner in the Llanberis Pass.

His films included Top Gun, Beverly Hills Cop II, Days of Thunder, The Last Boy Scout and True Romance.

What an amazing revelation this is, that he soloed Cenotaph. I wonder if anyone else on UKC knows any more about his British climbing ? (As far as I know, his brother, Ridley, has never done any rockclimbing).

That's quite impressive (soloing Cenotaph). (I know folk have soloed Right Wall etc but it's still something most wouldn't even consider!)

He must have had quite a chuckle sometimes at Tom Cruise's expense!
