British climber Mina Leslie-Wujastyk has made fast ascents of several hard boulder problems in Hueco Tanks, Texas. She has climbed two 8A problems (Le Chninkel and Chablanke) as well as four 7C+s.
Mina is in the USA on a long bouldering trip with David Mason. The pair are currently in Hueco Tanks, Texas, having previously visited the Fontainebleu-esque sandstone boulders of Horse Pens 40 in Alabama (Friday Night Vid).
Upon arriving at Hueco Tanks for her first visit, Mina commented on her excitement to be in such a world class venue, and on very good form:
"This is my first trip to Hueco and it feels like being a kid in a sweet shop! There are so many good lines to go at, my 'wish list' is constantly expanding."
Mina wasted little time upon arriving, quickly dispatching three 7C+/V10's and two 8A/V11's, Le Chninkel and Chablanke.
Mina commented further on these saying:
"Chablanke went down on a very windy day, it was a battle to keep warm which is odd for Hueco! Le Chninkel is a roof climb, really involved and powerful; very satisfying to finish."
Then, a couple of days later, Mina climbed the original 7C+/V10 of Hueco, Full Service, commenting on this she said:
"It's one of the best lines I've seen. The first V10 in the park, so it's a classic!"
Mina has been having a very good trip, showing the amazing form that she has been on in the last year, where she has ground-upped grit E7 (UKC News Report), climbed Careless Torque ground up (UKC News Report), multiple 8As in Rocklands (UKC News Report). All on top of some very respectable competition results, with a 9th place in the Colorado round of the Bouldering World Cup.
Commenting on her trip so far she said:
"The climbs I have done so far have been really fun and interesting. We have another couple of weeks here before heading home, fingers crossed for getting some more climbs climbed!"
