Beth Rodden - Climbing, Kidnap, Motherhood and Vulnerability

In this short documentary Beth Rodden discusses a range of topics from her climbing, to being kidnapped in Kyrgyzstan and then the challenges and insecurities of maintaining a climbing career whilst becoming a mother.

Beth was at the forefront of American and world climbing climbing for over a decade; her 1998 ascent of To bolt or not to be (8b+) singnalled the start of her climbing career. She went on to free climb El Capitan (only the second women to do so), with ascents of Lurking Fear and The Nose. In 2008, Beth established one of the hardest trad routes in the world - Meltdown 8c+.
