First free ascent of Next Generation, 8b+ multipitch, for Babsi Zangerl and Jacopo Larcher
Babsi Zangerl and Jacopo Larcher have made the first free ascent of Next Generation, an 8b+ multipitch route in the Rätikon, Austria.
In 2015, Austrian Barbara Zangerl and Swiss climber Nina Caprez made the third and fourth ascents of Beat Kammerlander's historic 450m Unendliche Geschichte (Neverending Story) 8b+ in Switzerland's Rätikon range Established in 1990, the route was the hardest multipitch in the world at the time, and didn't receive a second ascent until 2005 by Pietro dal Pra.
A video has just been released of Barbara and Nina's ascents showing the committing nature of the line, with some stomach-turning runouts...

Fantastic. Amazing. Put up in 1990 and no repeats until 2005. Having seen the vid I can see why!
