Climbing in India's Baspa Valley

Last Autumn, a strong team of climbers consisting of Jacopo Larcher, Siebe Vanhee, Matty Hong and the Pou brothers travelled to India's Baspa Valley. The varied area offered a mixture of big walls, bouldering and exceptional looking single pitch cragging.

The valley in the foothills of the Himalaya was first suggested as a destination by Hansjörg Auer, who tragically passed away in 2019 and the team travel there in his memory.

The richness of the valley combined with fast-changing weather brought both temptation and challenges to exploration and ensured the expedition remained fluid, with no single objective, no fixed route and no final itinerary.
