Carol Morgan has broken the Women's Lakes 24-hour record, ticking off 65 peaks in the allotted 24-hour limit. The previous female record holder was Nicky Spinks, who covered 64 peaks in 2011 in 23:15.
Starting and finishing in Braithwaite, Carol started at midnight on Sunday 30th August and returned to her starting point with just 3 minutes to spare. She added in Grisedale Pike as her extra summit, arriving there with 23 hours and 27 minutes elapsed.
Carol followed a very similar route to the Bob Graham, but instead of heading back to Keswick from Newlands, 24-hour record aspirants head up to Scar Crags and cover the horseshoe round to Grasmoor. How far you get depends on time and energy levels.

The Bob Graham Club collates Lake District record information and states that the rules for the 24 record are as follows: 'a contender must traverse on foot the same summits as the current Record holder in a faster time and/or with the addition of a separate summit or summits of 2,000 feet or over within 24 hours.'
Jean Dawes was the first woman to set a record in 1977 with 42 peaks. This was broken in quick succession by Anne-Marie Grindley and Ros Coats, before Grindley added another 16 peaks in 1979. In 2011, Nicky Spinks traversed 64 peaks, breaking what was a 17-year-old record at the time.
The men's record is currently held by Kim Collison, who broke the record earlier this year. He ticked off 78 peaks over a distance of 145km, with 11,750m of ascent in 23 hours and 45 minutes.
