Sabrina Verjee has beaten her own women's Pennine Way fastest known time, running the route in a time of 74 hours 28 minutes and 46 seconds, beating her previous time of 82 hours and 19 minutes.

The 39-year-old endurance runner ran the Pennine Way from north to south, starting at Kirk Yetholm at 6am on Saturday morning. She set herself the target of completing the 268-mile route in three days and was only two hours off her target, finishing in Edale at 8:28am on Tuesday morning.

Setting off strong, Sabrina kept pace with her schedule and even moved ahead of it for the first 24-hours, although her pace dropped off early on Monday morning, but only by a couple of hours.

Sabrina ran the infamous Montane Spine Race in January of this year, taking first place in the women's event. The race is held in winter which drastically hinders pace and she completed the route in 108 hours, 7 minutes, and 17 seconds.

In July, the Pennine Way fastest known time was broken twice, first by John Kelly and then Damian Hall. The current overall FKT is 2 days, 16 hours, and 46 minutes.

Earlier this year, Sabrina completed the first women's Wainwright Round, visiting all 214 peaks in 6 days, 17 hours and 51 minutes. She's no stranger to multi-day races and rounds – in 2017 she finished 2nd in the women's category of the Berghaus Dragon's Back Race.
