Japanese Olympic-qualified climbers Akiyo Noguchi and Tomoa Narasaki have launched an entertaining and informative YouTube channel alongside friend and speed climber Yudai Ikeda (Ikedai) in which the trio share training and movement tips, challenge each other and generally have a whole load of fun. The videos are subtitled in English and offer a rarely-seen insight into the training methods, personalities and philosophies of these world-class athletes (Tomoa is #1 Tokyo 2020 seed and Akiyo #2) ahead of their home Olympic Games next month.

Their first six episodes include two Q&A sessions, explainer videos on coordination and double dynos from Tomoa, a finger care routine from Akiyo (she's never had a finger injury in 20 years of climbing!) and a hilarious speed climbing battle between Tomoa and Ikedai with the big prize of a Japanese barbecue at stake. Tomoa's explanations of dynamic climbing are among the clearest we've ever heard and all three climbers have something interesting to offer given their different specialisms and strengths.

Akiyo and Tomoa are both Tokyo 2020 medal contenders, so give them a follow and watch this space in August.  頑張って!

I kinda hate the runny jumpy problems at the wall but these tips were really good!

I just watched the finger care video and did the exercises, and I must say my arthritic fingers feel better for it, even though it showed me just how inflexible my joints were.
