Beacon Climbing Centre Manager

The Beacon is a busy climbing centre in North Wales, and is currently looking for a suitable person for the full time post of Centre Manager.

The Centre Manager will work with the Beacon directors and the Beacon Chief Instructor to:

• Manage a small team of counter staff and approx 20 freelance instructors
• Provide reception & instruction cover as needed, and in particular during busier periods
• Provide route setter training & ensure continued compliance to guidelines
• Oversee route setting & contribute to maintaining a high standard of Beacon routes and boulder problems
• Take responsibility for H&S issues within the centre & keep up with latest legislation
• Oversee organisation, booking & invoicing of Beacon courses
• Help with the general promotion & marketing of The Beacon Climbing Centre
• Update web site & other marketing material

The ideal candidate should:

• Have excellent communication skills
• Be an active climber with an interest in climbing indoors & outdoors
• Be very hard working & able to inspire other staff
• Have previous experience of working in a climbing wall
• Hold a minimum of the SPA or CWA
• Be an experienced route setter
• Be prepared to work flexible shifts and provide cover at short notice
