Our ethos revolves around developing the skills of our team, so you can expect support to develop your career.

Working at a climbing wall is fun! Particularly if you are passionate about climbing and the communities climbing walls create.

Role Overview

As Cafe Manager you will be responsible for the smooth running of the Cafe as a whole. This includes serving customers at the till, preparing food, training and monitoring the team and  creating, completing and monitoring all paperwork and procedures. You will be responsible for the Cafe team and the service they provide, and the quality of the food and drink they present.

The cafe will run a counter service, we expect to serve pre-prepared takeaway style food like sandwiches, salads, pastries and cakes. However the menu would be yours to create and manage. You will be encouraged to take full ownership of the cafe offering and see it as your own small business within the larger facility. Setting your own margins, monitoring sales, wastage, wages and profitability to ensure the cafe is successful and sustainable.

The line manager for this role is the centre manager who will work with you to set targets, maintain standards and generally help you deliver the service day to day. Your team will be made up of "all-rounders" who will work in the cafe but may also do other roles in the centre such as reception or instruction shifts. As a start up local business the whole team needs to be adaptable and flexible.

Although this role requires a fair amount of admin time, all of the management must regularly work "on the floor" to keep a finger on the pulse of the centre. So you can expect to be rota'd on for Duty Manager and Cafe shifts on top of your "off-floor" admin days. The "off-floor" days are flexible, giving you the opportunity to adjust your working day to suit other aspects of your life.
