Thanks for the all the votes and comments folks. This was the last route of the day, light was fading and arms were tiring so was pleased with how it all came together in the end.

On FA in 1957,only protection used on this pitch a piton in the short groove below pinnacle .

Great to see a climbing pic in the top spot :)

FA 1957, 1 piton at base of pinnacle!! Was the Bludgeon one of Mr.Ross's routes...?

USBRIT - I passed your comments on to Rory and he replied that he doesnt have the balls to climb this route with only a piton below the pinnacle. Notwithstanding the cowardice, he thorouly enjoyed the route, thanks for putting it up all those years ago (when the only rocks a man needed were the ones in his pants) :-)

In 57 we considered a sling pro around the pinnacle, but thought it might collapse if a fall was taken.

I remember the spike being in good shape about around 1997.

If you note it is cracked around the base.. that is the reason we called it the Bludgeon. Would have been rough on the second !
USBRIT - 18/May/11
I'm not surprised this is 1st. It optimizes the climber we would all like to be.

Beautiful photo of a cracking route! If you haven't done it, now you know what you're missing, eh?
