I captioned this 'An unsuccessful attempt...'. In retrospect, having looked at my diary and found that my unsuccessful attempt was in January 1981, I reckon this must have been in July the following year, when I actually managed to shake my way up it.

This links to the wrong crag - it should be Stennis Head not Ford. You just couldn't wear too many socks in the eighties :-) (to my shame I still do)

Thanks Pete, just put that right. Yes socks eh, I think I usually wore two pairs with those Galibier Contacts. I notice in the database MS gets E5 - is that right? It was E4 at the time, I think. No wonder I found it so hard. I don't wear socks now though...

Outstanding. "climb it with great pain"
Good grief.

Good grief.
Don't remember taking this at all, Jon, although I see we did Enter The Goat on the 17th - so if it was around that time it becomes more likely; prior to that I was probably awaiting the re-growth of post-frostbite skin on various digits!

This was on the 24th. You were there, as were Charlie, Dave Garnett, Hilary and Phil Robbins. I think it waa the WE I took the pic of you on Trvallen Pillar. I've noted in my diary that I did Mean Streak with Charlie, so I assumed you must have taken the photo...

A pair of wellies look like they'd give a better edge than those shoes. What were they like to climb in compared to shoes now?
