On 1st ascent of Crucible. At the time one of the last great problems in Snowdonia was how to free climb up to the 'great diedre' on the nose of Craig yr Ogof.

Nice shot of a young Bas - Mo and I did an early ascent of this route.
I only remember us meeting once, at an interview for an instructor's job at the Towers centre in Capel. I have been to several unsuccessful job interviews in my time where I was later glad that I did not get an offer - that one was near to the top of the list !
