My first weekend winter climbing in Scotland

Coincidentally I've just scanned a slide of my first time on the Curtain with the shot taken from exactly the same stance with identical ice detail. So if not the same day we must have climbed it within a few days of each other. I'm guessing '86 or possibly '87?

1986, February. The first day I did the Orion face with Simon Richardson and next day Waterfall Gulley and the Curtain with Roger.

... and I climbed it on 20th February 86! One of these days we'll come up with a route we've done on the same day!

Checked my notes, we climbed it a few days earlier and likewise preceded it with Orion Direct the day before. We camped half way up the Allt a Mhuilinn and also remember the Ben being really busy - there were 5 parties behind us on Orion.

Ours was a more modest day - The Curtain then Green Gully. Thanks for the prompt to get my diary out. Great days in another life!
