Amazing pebbles in that grit in the quarry - maybe not so good for the grindstones though.

Yeah, amazing to think that those layers were caused by storms millions of years ago! I don't know much about the history of Lawrencefield (Bole Hill); I think it and Millstone were predominantly large-scale quarried for the rock to build the dams but there must have been millstones being taken from there for 500 years before then (there are still loads of abandoned millstones along the old railway line towards the Hathersage end).
