Its a fair comment - I checked the high res version and its just the tong of the shoe sticking up. The photo does conceal how absolutely Baltic it was though, one clue is that the rope should drop out of sight behind the rock from that angle.

It's an amazing photo - I'm friends with the guy who was belaying and he attested to the coldness! I really like the wider angle one showing the whole reservoir, but it would probably be hard to do that one justice with the 120kb limit.
