The Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic climber to join the off ground and climbing wall team at Calshot Activities Centre.

For over 60 years we have operated as an activities centre, offering a wide range of water and land-based activities. Our historic hangars accommodate our ski slope, velodrome, and our climbing walls. The climbing wall is open daily to recreational climbers, which feature over 1200 square metres of climbing, spread over 70+ lines, with our biggest walls reaching up to 15 metres.

We are a primary centre for NICAS climbing clubs, which run through the week. Along with our established climbing clubs, we pride ourselves on providing learning and development for all levels of climber from our visiting school groups, casual recreational climber to instructor training and awards.

As a wall team member, you will be responsible for:
•    Wall supervision and floor walking, checking that customers are using safe practices.
•    Climbing instruction to schools, NICAS  clubs, and courses.
•    Essential equipment inspections.
•    Route setting of our boulder cave and roped walls.
•    Assisting with wall development projects.

 Key skills include:
•    Knowledge of climbing equipment & belay devices.
•    Front of house and customer service.
•    Knowledge of PPE inspection and recording.
•    Good instructional and coaching skills.
•    Ability to organise workload and work unsupervised.

This is a full time, permanent position, however part time working would be considered. Given the nature of the work, the role entails afternoon, evening, and weekend working and is rota based. We are looking for someone who holds their CWI or RCI award.

Why work for us?

•    Support towards NGB qualifications, such as; CWDI, RSD level two, MEWP operator, BMC fundamentals and Foundation coach.
•    Free use of the climbing facilities and access to all our other facilities.

We offer a flexible, motivating, and inclusive workplace, where talent is truly recognised and developed.
