Last October we sent Jack Geldard, UKC's Editor, to represent UKClimbing.com at the American Alpine Club International Climbing Editors Summit held at the AAC headquarters in Golden, Colorado, USA. (UKC News Report: We've Sent Jack Packing......to the USA).

Jack, this time with our Director Alan James, are off on another jolly, I mean working holiday, this time to Barcelona, Spain. To be precise at Albi near the in-crag of the moment, Margalef to attend a European climbing media conference.

It's important in these hard times that we collaborate with other climbing journalists and media, whether they be print or web (or both), so that we can make connections and hopefully deliver the kind of global and diverse content that you want.

Representatives from the climbing and mountaineering media from Russia, Czech, Spain, France, Germany, as well as the UK, will be discussing the future of climbing media and what you want from it. Topics covered include: quality of editorial content, reader content, video, advertising and collaboration between media.

Each morning session of discussion is followed by an afternoon climbing session of course, at Margalef, bouldering at Coguls and Siurana.

Meanwhile Kevin Avery, our Gear and Destinations Editor; Nick Smith our Web Designer and myself are left holding the fort at UKC. Be good!

In July: Jack, Alan, Kevin and myself will be at the OUTDOOR show (www.outdoor-show.com) at Friedrichshafen, Germany, by the shores of Lake Constance.

It's a hard life but I guess someone has to do it. Hope the suits and shirts are neatly folded in the rucksacs.

As you can see from the photo Grumpy, Jack and Alan are not known for their sartorial elegance. Alan does have a suit, but it is most certainly not in his rucksack. I think Alan may have ponied up for extra leg room on Easy Jet for Jack. That will be the limit of any extravagance. Mick
