Probably best known to climbers for his novel 'Climbers'

In reply to Doug:

A really good read and highly recommended. But did the 'hero' really have to shag his climbing partner's wife at the end? That sort of thing happens in real life but in fiction you hope for something better.
In reply to Doug: The most depressing book I have ever read. Good, but depressing.

It's partly autobiographical. I think one of the characters is based on UKC poster Al Evans.

To the OP : Looking forward to the new book, Light, the 1st part of what he's now calling a trilogy, was one of my favourite books of the past few years.

Really? I did know him but never saw myself as a character in the book.
There is however a connection, he was interviewed by Jim Perrin some years ago at the crag. While there they found a climbers hand written climbing plan for the year, Jim mentioned this (rather scathingly) in the article, I later admitted that it was my projects for the year plan.

In reply to Al Evans:

I seem to recall asking you if you were the photographer in Blackpool

and if MJH was the monkey....

I hadn't thought of that, I suppose I could have been.

That's what I was talking about. I posted a thread about Harrison a year or so back. I'm sure I remember you replying to it and you telling me that one of the characters was partly based on you. That's why I made the comment above.

In reply to aln: I'd forgotten that, I don't suppose there could have been many climbers that he knew that worked as seaside photographers on the front in Blackpool (though in my case it was actually Morecambe)

In reply to Al Evans:

Banged to rights old chap.

Dud you actually have a monkey or was that Pete Livesey?
 Al Evans 26 Jul 2012
In reply to John Rushby: Too right I had a monkey, haven't you read the article?

In reply to John Rushby: Fame at last...
