This evening I took away half a dozen dog poo bags which people had considerately left scattered along the foot of Windgather. While I was collecting these my climbing partner was scraping up pieces of bog roll from the parking area.

Please take your shit home.

I don't litter (or have a dog) but massively appreciate your efforts. Thank you so much for making a clean crag environment for other to enjoy, even though it shouldn't be necessary.

Windgather seems particularly bad for dog and human s**t, no idea why. 

It does get heavily used, not only by climbers but also walkers, and I've seen people going there to party. I've not seen it quite this bad before. Disappointing.

I've been there loads over the years and what you describe is way worse than anything I've ever seen. My only thought is it's become some kind of Instagram viral location. I doubt very much anyone using UKC/H will be leaving such a mess. In any case, thank you very much for your efforts.

I plainly do not understand the concept of bagging shit and leaving it around. For the Outside Crag Cleanup me and my climbing partner went to Chee Dale picking rubbish along both the Monsal Trail and along the river (the crag itself was pretty clean). We must have picked at least 50 bags of dog shit. I especially do not understand picking them and flinging them just behind the fences. Horrific.

Taken my kids climbing there twice and both times had run-ins with human excrement. Grim.

I completely understand it. People bag the shit when they think that they are being watched by others, then throw it away when they're not.

It's pathetic and stupid behaviour - but I fully understand what's going on.

I was a Castle Naze on Saturday it was nearly spotless. Eagle eyed climbing partner, American Andy, spotted a disposable water bottle about 50 mtrs down the hill in in scree and went and collected that, bless him. I found a rope end tag-tape that someone hadn't noticed had fallen off their rope, so picked that up. That was it. I've seen a more litter on the eastern edges, Curbar - close to the carpark seems a bad spot, but overall the crags are pretty well looked after and massively better than roadsides almost everywhere (you just notice all the litter when you're on a bike!).

I still go to Windgather several times a year and I don't remember ever seeing any Pooh there; either human or bagged doggy. I must be doing something wrong or maybe I'm just unobservant (quite possible) or maybe I somehow manage to time my visits to just after some public spirited soul like yourself has cleaned the place up.

I shall try to keep a good lookout next time I go.
