Edinburgh Festival Theatre - parking in walking distance?

Heading down to the Capital for a show tomorrow afternoon. For various reasons I have to drive into the centre. Where best to park within around 10-15mins stride of the Festival Theatre?

Thinking St James Centre would be a fair bet but maybe there's somewhere decent closer. Years since we lived in the neighbourhood, and of course we had residents parking so it was never really a question.

This might be helpful? Nowhere will be cheap!

Possibly worth parking on the south side outside the charging zone and getting the bus in or walk a bit further. There's loads of buses going up Minto Street towards the Theatre - it may well work out significantly cheaper than parking!

Enjoy the show 😀

I'd park somewhere in Marchmont and walk over the Meadows. I'm certain most if not all of Marchmont/Sciennes is free at the weekend.

Thanks, good intel!

Not sure about that one. Sciennes & Marchmont are zone1.

I normally park for work just to the south of marchmont for free but its a longer walk than your 10-15 minutes.

Can’t help with the parking I’m afraid, but if you are going to see “Hamilton”, my eldest daughter saw it last week and says it was brilliant.

Hmm, OK after 1830.

Dan, if you need earlier, S2 runs up to the junction of Whitehouse Land and Bruntsfield Terrace and that's unrestricted over the weekend. 15mins will get you to the Festival Theatre.

Yeah definitely best bet, around thirlestane road in marchmont is free, usual easy enough to find a space, easy access from bypass and nice walk down across meadows to the theatre.

Thanks all. Unfortunately we didn't even make it - car trouble en route.

In reply to Sealwife:

Yes, dammit!
