I'd like to complain about the deplorable use of Pumpkins as Jack 'o' lanterns for Halloween celebrations.
In reply to Removed User:

Yes, it is quite dreadful this Americanisation of our British traditions.

There was nothing at all wrong with using turnips.

Except the smell, the difficulty hollowing them out, the disgusting soup made from the stuff scraped from the insides, nothing wrong at all.

In reply to Removed User: I agree - all that lovely food....wasted. Apparently, we like American things now (thank god for Alan Partridge!).

I'm quite pleased with my Jack o lantern this year, however I know it won't be long before the thing starts to get a lopsided leer and smell a bit funny. A bit like the rest of us of a Saturday evening.

Mine weren't very healthy pumpkins, don't really think they're fit for human consumption. Going to put them out and see if the birds want them. Trying to decide whether they'd like the seeds roasted.

In reply to Removed User: Bananas and carrots can be quite fun too
