Surprised no-one's commented on this, pretty amazing stuff. He was 2 years old when Steve Cram set the previous British record!

Farah's now the 6th fastest 1500m runner of all time - still a fair way off Hicham El Guerrouj's 1998 record though.

Saw that the other night, not bad for a 5000m runner running in his first 1500m race!

...but the winner - Kiprop - looks emaciated . . . 6'2" and 140lbs

Farah? Power of 10 says he has been running competitive 1,500m since 1997. Great run though, for what was effectively speed work.

Oh, OK...

In the interview on the BBC clip he said it was a "new event", and that he was shocked at the pace at the start... Maybe it was the 3K he's going to do next week that he was referring to as a new event?

No done lots of 3,000m, he is the current European Cup 3,000m champion. I suspect it was just a lighthearted comment about maybe doing a few more shorts ones, the marathon will be a targeted new event in 2014.

I thought this footage of Mo running hard against two world class young hot shots at a Diamond League 5000m recently was just great.

British record at 1500m, 5000m, 10000m, and half marathon (21000ish metres). Wouldn't bet against him getting the marathon record next year too (although I'm not heading down the bookies to stick a tenner on it either)

Just great indeed! Had a big smile on my face watching that, cheers for posting it.

Bet the odds are crap.

Without looking it up, the British record is 2:07 something, dating back to the 80s. I think Farah will take a couple of minutes off it.
