Thanks for posting that, there was an orbituary in the P&J but that was also behind a pay wall.

On his ground-braking 1st ascent of Zero Gully with McInnes & Patey, the latter famously wrote..."We moved together, the pace dictated by the fastest member. Nicol was the most exhausted; he carried the pitons!" An absolute classic article from Patey.
