Many of you will probably know the Rich Mayfield and I will be trying to climb every route in Ken Wilson's 'Hard Rock' this summer and we've got a website up and running http://www.hardrockchallenge.org.uk

I'm just starting to put up more info on all the routes and I've been trying to collate pictures to put online. Thanks to some UKC photographers I've got a few dozen great images. Most of the common Peak and Welsh routes are already covered but for the rest (30+ routes) I've been struggling to find really good shots.

If any of you have any good photos you would like other climbers to see then please get in touch.

Check out http://www.hardrockchallenge.org.uk/05-10-00-routes.html and run your mouse over the list of routes to see which ones I've got images for and which ones I don't.

Many thanks,
Mark

Good luck Mark, may the weather be in your favour

In reply to hwackerhage: Great photos - I've added one of each route to the site! Many thanks.

Anyone else got some good pictures they would like to share?

In reply to Mark Stevenson: Your website kills my browser! Every time the page opens i get a "safari has suddenly died" type message...
In reply to Daniel Armitage: I'm sorry about that.

I don't currently have access to Safari to try and troubleshoot. I've been checking that everything works on both Firefox and IE 6 and even getting them both to work is bad enough.
In reply to nai:
> The original is a bit clearer, I can mail it to you if you're interested.

If you could send it to mark (at) hardrockchallenge.org.uk that would be great

I noticed a few probs with the links for photos not working as well eg DOWH (using IE).

Sometimes the images seem to take a long time to load, but I've not been able to verfiy if there is actually a genuine problem or if it's just the internet being slightly slower.

It all just reminds me why I gave up designing website professionally 10 years ago....

Did you get my email from the other night? I've quite a few shots that you can use.

In reply to Bob and others:Thank for the emails. I've just added about another 7 photos this afternoon and have had a few more promised.

I'm still very short of Scotland and Lakes photos. If anyone can help, please get in touch.

In reply to Mark Stevenson:

I can't see your site because it crashes Safari. I have some pictures of varying qualities of Shibboleth, Ravens Gully, Carnmore, Gob, and Moonraker here:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/ajmorris/tags/summerofrock/

None of them particularly brilliant in the grand scheme of things, but if you want larger versions email me.

I also have somewhere a photo or two of the tree pitch on North Crag Eliminate, but I think Flikr is hiding it because I won't upgrade to a Pro account. And theres a photo or two of Cloggy and Great/Bow at http://www.flickr.com/photos/ajmorris/tags/cloggy/

Hi Mark

I've had a look on the sites and just wondered where you are headed on a day to day basis from Chedder until 22nd July as I'm free to come and take shots in that time period for the site/blog etc etc - and of course lend any support needed.

if there is a link for idiots - please show me!

Cheers

Si

In reply to Mark Stevenson:

I've got some slides showing climbing on Praying Mantis & North Crag Eliminate, but my scanner's playing up. If there's anyone in Aberdeen or nearby who I can trust to look after them & can scan them for you I'd be happy to let you use any you think might be useful.
In reply to Mike C: I'm just engaging in some last minute updates to the website before we start on Friday. After then we should hopefully be uploading our own images.

Many thanks for the offer. The images would be useful but please don't go to too much hassle to get them to me.

Cheers, Mark

In reply to Mark Stevenson:

Bearing in mind that I can't (or couldn't) view your site - which ones have you used in the end? I didn't realise I had 7 that were worth showing!

AJM
In reply to AJM: See http://public.fotki.com/HardRockChallenge/hard-rock-photo-archive/?cmd=fs_s...

If any better photos come along they may get replaced but they are easily good enough for the purpose of illustrating the routes and crags for the time being.
In reply to Mark Stevenson: The Scoop, Swastika and Sirplum all now have photos, so they can come of the 'wish list'.

Thanks

A really great set of photos.

Your spelling is terrible though.

Hope you get lots done.

 AJM 12 Jul 2007
In reply to Mark Stevenson:

Good stuff, that works fine

I'd forgotten about the crag shots of Esk Buttress actually, I don't know how I managed that.

Glad you have found a use for some of them. I hope for your sakes you can replace the ones of Carnmore and Great/Bow in particular

Hi Mark,

I have a few buried on the old laptop of some of the Scottish ones, I will have a look and mail them over to you when I get a chance (moving house at the moment, busy times)

All the best with the challenge

Chris.
