Seems that after FMD has ebbed, fire has got a hold. Apparently it's there (underground) near Glossop and Chew Valley. BMC to meet on Monday to help decide.
Did it rain in the Peak? Could improve the chances of no closure.
We have had very little rain, just a drizzle for a few hours on Sat......Nothing Sun.....It's hot & humid still

In reply to Charles Arthur, UKC Editor: Maybe you can explain to me how exactly fires travel underground? Seemingly they do but how far can they travel etc? If the affected climbing areas were closed what would the reasons be? Risk of injury? Risk of spreading the fire? Or other? Anyway questions questions... JDH

What, the BMC have 'homed in' onto an innocent 14 year old bystander -who started it? Well, it will not be the first time that the BMC got someone arrested (the last one served 3 months in prison) which of course is better than - burning...
