The Perch Quarry rockfall (lower tier)

A quick heads up. As a regular at The Perch (Somerset) we’ve noticed repeated rockfall near the far end of the lower tier. Jacket potato sized stones come whizzing down the line of ‘More to Share’, more often than not clearing the line of ascent but landing plumb in the belay spot.

Fortunately we’ve always been on a different part of the wall each time but helmets advised at all times when climbing, belaying or hanging out anywhere beyond the boulder ruckle halfway along the foot of the crag.

The rocks appear to be coming from some way above the climb and can be heard before being seen if you’re alert. I don’t believe anywhere on the approach to the upper tier is in line with this area but I did try shouting up when we first saw rockfall, no response.

Interesting. A similar thing happened to us last year when a large block fell down the crag to the right of Last Little X...when I was leading it!
