Hi

I met up with Offwidth and Lynn former (BMC President) on the 14th as I had a CPD event at The Beacon that evening

We first visited  Bus Stop Quarry which has a lovely approach and is easily accessible from Caernarfon via bus. We checked out some routes including the magnificent Fool's Gold (E1 5c)  and Offwidth pointer some sport routes out to me.

We then went to  Craig yr Undeb (Union Rock) where after warmung  up with  bouldering I Simul lead climbed Route 2 (D) and almost did my first abseil. For me, the descent on Union Rock was unpleasant.

We then headed to Beacon for a coffee.

When I first read that title, without my glasses on, I lost the "t" from the last word and rushed in a panic to open the thread.... ROFL!!

Glad to have  had a good day out with you, and I hope the Mountain Training Association CPD meet up went well.

That's epic Sav! Like you, I was taken on a tour of Bus Stop Quarry by one of my mates (who's an outdoors instructor fortuitously!). That was 2007 and according to my logbook, I dogged Equinox (VS 4c) , the highest grade lead of my shambolic and low level climbing experiences. But Bus Stop Quarry has an atmosphere all of it's own right?

It did that day with Sav thanks to a dead goat :0

Anyhow, Sav on his simulated lead.

Thanks. The social went very and through it I found a person who to climb slate with - Kelly Duffy, the lady who hosted the social.

In reply to While E. Coyote:

Thanks!

We saw the lower tier up close mainly and as far as I can remember Offwidth also showed me  Equinox (VS 4c)  and Solstice (HVS 5a) amongst other routes.

Yes, BSQ does have an atmosphere all of it's own.

It was a good day and at the CPD meet I toproped belayed using both my ATC and my GriGri 2019, practiced tying off the ATC and practiced The Italian Hitch and demonstrated The Klemheist and the The French Prussik.

I did try to climb some routes but I was a bit tired and still a bit sore from the day's climbing.

Thank you.

Is the congratulations anything to do with MT awards?

I may have a trip to The Peak District in December.

No, they were for having successfully simulated-led your first Diff!

I don’t think so - I think he’s first telling Offwidth that he’s done a great job in helping you overcome your disability and in giving you more confidence on the rock (which I absolutely second). And then he’s congratulating you on your achievement - two posts for the price of one, if you like.

Thanks.

That is great.
