Comments in the logbook for Amptrax (http://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/c.php?i=112546) seem to suggest that it is bolted all the way to the very top these days.

Can anyone definitely confirm if this is indeed the case? Will save me packing trad gear for it!

In reply to thedatastream: Even if it isn't, one set of wires 1-10 will be enough.

In reply to thedatastream: yes it is. Done just under a year ago now. Africa however is not yet fully bolted, and well worth doing!

I did it last December and we definitely used no trad gear. I do recall my friend commenting that the loosest bit on the route was the most runout though.

I did it last Feb and it was fully bolted we topped out and walked of the back. Even the last couple of scramble pitch's had some bolts and bolted belays.
If you take the abseil decent option be care full not to abb off to early, some mates abseiled a pitch or two early and ended up abing off tat all the way down.... sounded pretty exciting!
Enjoy

Just to confirm it is fully bolted to the top, this thread is worth a read

Marvellous news. Thanks all
In reply to thedatastream: I heard they're thinking of putting an escalator on it.
