Yarncliffe

Thanks to the prolonged dry spell, several of the mid-grade cracklines at Yarncliffe are now in great condition, clean and dry.

S.T.P. (VS 5a)

Zapple Left-hand (HVS 5a)

Zapple (HVS 5b)

Fall Pipe (VS 4c)

All are very good routes, and face north so are in the shade, make the most of them while you can. We were there today and midges weren't a problem despite the lack of breeze.

This is what UKC is really for, lets help spread good news!!!

Thanks for the (belated) info!!! Haha, would have joined you...

Fingers crossed they will still be in condition by August, they look like great routes!

Meanwhile if anyone can make it to Devon/Cornwall for a change of scenery, Mon, Tues, Weds next week?

Still got yr crag brush tyke... sound like you don't need it now!

Some really green routes are coming into condition that often don't at all. It's a good year to tick off some classics that rarely dry out.

Yes, similar to the winter just gone I suppose, 2018 may turn out to be a vintage year.

Did all today and all very dry, ants but no midges.

Nice routes.

Thanks for the heads up cragtyke.

Did the ones on Zapple wall on Thursday evening, and they were great!  I'll post a pic later.

Perfect time for some of the other filthy ones to get a good scrubbing, if anyone has any spare time?  I've cut the brambles back so you can get to the base of the routes.

Bearing in mind that extremely dry conditions can lead to unusual effects in the soil which usually helps support parts of the rock in quarries....

Spot on - all great quality routes. How is it with the ants?

Ants were all over the belay at the top of STP on Tuesday.  Great climbing though.
