Looking to take my partner for a days easy climbing. She is experienced but looking for something short, slabby, easy etc...we also only have 5 quickdraws for now.

Current thoughts are some of the easy routes at Harpur hill or Horseshoe. Anywhere better?

Many thanks

Horse-Thief Quarry

Quite a few easy short routes with crabs on most of the lower offs. A couple more draws would open up a few more routes.

Topo available at Gary Gibson's website sportsclimbs.co.uk, please consider contributing to the bolt fund.

Great thanks for the tip and will keep the bolt fund in mind.

Not a typical sport day out but the New Mills viaducts are worth a bash.

The routes are fairly short there and there’s some low level traverses on the crag to warm up on

Abit of a trek from Manchester but well worth the trip!!

Consider top roping on grit - like froggatt. The shorter easier routes at sport routes apparently have more choss and they're just not great (in my opinion). but only if you can safely set up bomber top ropes that might be a better day out for what you're after
