UKC Fat Club is not a substitute for giving up pies and beer but to use in addition to such self denial as a motivational tool for all.

This training article by Dave Macleod includes a section on dietary advice from a climber's point of view:
http://www.ukclimbing.com/articles/page.php?id=317

A new thread is posted each week on Sunday for anyone to jot down their previous week's sins, noting goals, successes and failures and to swap ideas.

Anyone interested in starting is very welcome but you should aim to post each week, every week, however little or much you have eaten.
By making such a regular public record of your activities and by restating your goals every week this will hopefully
improve your eating habits to help achieve your weight loss/maintenance goals whatever the level of your current blobbiness.

Link to last week's (18) thread: http://www.ukclimbing.com/forums/t.php?t=586077

Apologies to UKC Fit Club for the shameful plagiarism in this thread!

waterbaby - Lots of exercise. 3lb down.
practicallypixie - at Reading Bear Festival. Hic.
Sleepy_trucker - still the same. How was Snowdonia?
VS4b - 1lb down and showered with gifts. I'd go with Burgundy.
AndrewW - 1lb down and body for sale. No offers. Ebay next stop.
Dick, Still a Fat B - elbow sounds sucky.
Fatclimber - about the same. Glad you're getting out. When I was in the UK outside generally involved beer *and* chips afterwards. Now just involves gin martinis.

Yo dudes. you got mad skills. Have a good week.

In reply to AndrewW:

No change for me weight-wise (well, down 2oz apparently!).

Snowdonia was good thanks, reminded myself why I spent so much time over there a couple of years ago and I've decided to make more of an effort this year, I missed out a lot last year; the ciggys seem to suck the life and enthusiasm out of me yet I keep going back to them

In reply to AndrewW:

The big goal for me this week is to have a fast day. This seems to me to be the only way for me to lose weight, I'm very poor at managing my diet / lifestyle.

Please moan at me next week if I don't report success!

In reply to AndrewW:

Put on 3lbs. How did that happen??? Bow-locks.

In reply to AndrewW:

You need a poo?

In reply to AndrewW:

Thanks for pointing out a great article on stopping making excuses like I am too old, too fat, too short etc and just get on with it - needed that!
Andy Gamisou 13 May 2014
In reply to waterbaby:
Sadly not. Poo-ing is one of my special skills. Might be water retension though as I've just peed more than 10 times and lost 2lbs.

In reply to AndrewW:

I don’t think I have been using the Fatclub well. I certainly haven’t been as declarative as folks on Fitclub, and as I think a great deal of the benefit is in peer pressure (and support) I’m going to get more public.
So my current weight as of 13th May is 98 kg ish.

My plan is on the 1st of each month to weigh

July 94
Aug 92
Sep 90
Oct 89
Nov 88
Dec 87
Jan 88
Feb 87

This week I plan to Climb X 2, Swim X 2, Yoga X 1 and one fast day to help the diet.
I will only drink on Saturday.

I will report my success or failure next week.

That's excellent...result!

In reply to Fatclimber:

Glad to see you've factored Christmas in!

How strange I was thinking similarly, that we don't seem to be taking it seriously enough and as such I was going to write down my week on here(not just in my diary), fit club style (of which I used to be a member).

Weight loss is steady but I'm getting bored now, it needs to be off quicker and I need to stop having little cheats, drink less and exercise more.
I have had an ongoing problem with my hamstrings (tendonitis or bursitis) for years now, it WAS much better but sadly this week with all the extra exercise, it's come back

It's properly p**sing me off now! I'm reducing the walking this week to try to rest them.

Last week:

Wed- Swimming 1500m ,Walked 4.4 miles @ 3.3mph
Thurs- rest
Fri- Swimming 1500m, Walking 8 miles @ 3.1mph
Sat- Swimming 1500m, gardening
Sun- Weights supersets deadlifts/ bent over row/ shoulder press/ weighted squat 10 reps, 3 sets. Woodchops 12kg KB/ alternate crunchies/ KB swing/ reverse crucifix 10 reps x 3
Mon- walking 4 miles
Tues- Swimming 1500m

I’ve lost 1kg.

Notice no climbing still, last time I went I only managed 2 rainbow routes and then my arms died, not so good. Trying to get fitter before I try again

In reply to waterbaby and Fatclmber:

I agree with you both regarding not taking it seriously enough. From next week I'm going to post a day by day summary of my nutritional failings/successes in an attempt to shame myself into improving.

 VS4b 15 May 2014
In reply to AndrewW:

Haven't weighed myself, but feeling fat! done no exercise at all this week and not eaten well either, oops. Really committed to getting back on track from monday following a day trip to ride a bike race round the tdf first stage.

Also, the fixie is going to be lime green!

In reply to AndrewW:

In reply to AndrewW:

Been in Madrid. Did a lot of walking so managed to drop 2ld. Now 9st 11lb.

Fatclimber - I will moan at you in person if you do the same to me!

I am aiming for a steady 1.5lbs a week from now. Will weigh each Monday morning and report .
