Since there is just enough rain to screw up my plans I pose this question:

Is there anywhere to climb this weekend that is:

(a) in a mountain area
(b) no further north than the Lakes
(c) no further south than mid wales
(d) reasonably dry
(e) amenable for nice a multi pitch day out
(f) away from the massed hoards

Your dreams?

In reply to duchessofmalfi:

Holyhead and Tremadog would be the go to areas I guess or maybe moorland grit, not multi pitch but certainly away from the crowds. Saturday looks like the only dry day anyway, at least in North Wales you could go do some scrambling, easy multi pitch or snakes and ladders on Sunday.

In reply to duchessofmalfi: there'll be dry stuff on Peak lime, Malham would be a good shout, Parisellas cave (and plenty if other bouldering). Hylldrem girdle.
That lot should keep you busy for a bit

I hesitate to believe that the answer to any "it's raining, where can I climb?" related question is "North Wales"!

To be fair, your list of criteria didn't leave many alternatives.........

I think you could almost make a case if you used the original guidebook

It was "Rock Climbs on the Mountain Limestone of Derbyshire" from 1961...

Be an optimist, head to North Wales, make sure you like climbing on slate, keep your options open and you will find something to do 90% of the time, everytime.

Reminds me of one of the Naked Gun films.

Ed: Doctors say he's got a 90% chance of making a full recovery! (slight pause) However, there's only a 50% chance of that.

Since Wednesday morning North Lakes has been wet and cool.
The outlook is currently bleak, although that can always change rapidly when high pressure suddenly wafts in.
There is not one day forecast near me for the next 6 weeks having a temperature greater than 18 degrees.

Ticking most (*) of your boxes, head to Leicestershire and go to Charnwood quarry.

There's some adventure to be had on the main slab and you're pretty much guaranteed to be on your own.

(*) ok, some
