I once went down to the worms head car park where it says "no overnight parking" EVERYWHERE. the car park is on a bit of a crest of the hill so I parked (nearby some other "stealth campers") at the far end from the pub and made sure I was actually out of site from guests rooms. note, not the bottom by the NT buildings but close to the top. Went into the bar and tbh it was pretty obvious I wasn't a guest but bought a drink and bowl of chips, used the WiFi and they didn't have an issue at all. left at 10:30 and went to bed. In the morning, just moved the van to a different area and paid the day's parking when the meters opened. Not sure if the NT didn't realise or didn't mind but all were very friendly in the morning, and rest of the day.
Again, not a recommendation as if everyone did this, there would be a problem but a note that they're not as uptight as all the signs make them seem.
Its on a bit of a slope though.
