There is a certain beauty about these libraries, not because they are in grand and often ostentatious buildings but in simple buildings which form part of our heritage, and were set up by simple ordinary people for the use of simple ordinary people

I got to handle a 1687 edition of Newton's Principia Mathematica when I visited Chetham's as a student in the 90s. Not sure they would let me near it now!
