I've often heard James McHaffie described as the dark lord of British climbing. If Caff is the dark lord then Ben Bransby is the court jester. The pair are two of Britain's very best rock climbers, excelling at all disciplines particularly, onsight, hard trad. They've now been climbing together for nearly twenty years and if you carefully read between the lines, you'll find a few backhanded compliments.

Brilliant, these two shambling wads kind of sum up British trad.

The picture of Bransby about to take a massive lob off the Eigg route is one of the best climbing shots ever.

Great work... Absolutely loved this article... And the video on the BMC site of Ben climbing Parthian Shot is one of my all-time faves!
