Outdoor sports v country sports ( help )

If you read the following would you agree with the just of the following  ( like ) or disagree ( dislike )

“ outdoor sports are taken to be  things like climbing , canoeing , mountain biking and similar activities . Hunting , shooting and fishing  are commonly referred to as country sports “

Thank you all for responding . I have of course taken heavily biased sample but as I dont frequent any other social media or forums that’s all I can do . To be honest I I have started looking at the coffee forums again but I have a hunch that the majority of folk on there don’t leave the house very much .

Worth saying (or maybe it isn't worth saying as I don't know why you are asking!) that the description you posted may only apply to the UK. For example, on a thread about climbing in Namibia I pointed out that some of the self-described "outdoor" sports shops there tended to specialise in guns, fishing and camping equipment.

Funny how shooting a bird with a gun is considered a sport by either definition.

Hunting/shooting/fishing are also often referred to as "field sports", just to confuse them with sports like soccer or rugby that could be played on a field.

or field hockey, as opposed to ice hockey or air hockey :-D
