Thirty volunteers from the British Mountain Medicine Society have again combined with the BMC to run the Hathersage Mountain Medicine weekend on 18/19 May. The facilitators are all medics and active climbers/mountaineers bringing years of practical experience and cutting edge international research.  The weekend consists of a series of one hour workshops on topics such as casualty assessment, frostbite care, hand injuries, hypothermia management, enjoying the hills with co-existing medical conditions, altitude illness. Small groups enable us to adapt each workshop to the needs of the delegates.

Looks like an excellent weekend planned

In reply to Davy Gunn:

Thanks Davy,

Of course a lot of the facilitators got a lot of their knowledge from you during Diploma of Mountain Medicine Courses in Glencoe in the early days of the qualification.

BMC/BMMS weekends are unique! A brilliant opportunity to gain knowledge and insights from leading practitioners who are passionate about mountains and medicine. They are a great addition to first aid training, with bonus CPD points for professionals.

See you there David.

In reply to JamieH:

Jamie, Many thanks for your kind comments. As you know each workshop is geared for shared learning so the medical facilitators learn as much from those who attend, such as yourself and fellow British Mountain Guides, as you do from us.
