In the 71-year-old history of the first Everest ascent, hundreds of thousands of books, articles and documents detail the legacy of their climb. Just one living legacy of that fateful day remains: 91-year-old Kanchha Sherpa, the only surviving member of the 1953 Everest expedition, who carried climbing gear and other essentials for the British expedition led by John Hunt.
